Why birdwatch at Lac aux Oiseaux?

Located in northern Burundi near the Rwandan border, Lac aux Oiseaux (“Lake of Birds”) is one of the country’s finest wetland birding sites. The lake attracts numerous resident and migratory bird species throughout the year, making it a rewarding destination for birdwatchers and photographers. Sunset offers excellent opportunities to observe birds returning to their roosts against the backdrop of the peaceful lake.

After breakfast, take a short tour of Kirundo and discover the town’s unique charm. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about local traditions and browse fresh produce and handcrafted goods.

AFTERNOON:
Drive to Muramvya
Travel south to Muramvya, where you will stop to enjoy lunch before continuing your journey into Burundi’s scenic highlands.
